I'm totally baffled by today's speech.

There are some nice turns of phrase, but the themes seem confused and muddled. Right when they are about to take off and argue for a better world, she kills them. We're left with the frightening idea that the darkness is all we have.

I guess you can't win 'em all.

Is it just that women should not speak at graduation ceremonies (does the word …priceless… ring a bell) or have I just gone through my adult life in a delusional state? How did I miss out on all this bitterness and anger?
Why would we only wish for women the comfort of home and shelter and beautiful children? Most men I know appreciate these things too. Do people really believe there is a tribal language; is it like a secret code that men won’t tell us? Do you think that I have missed out on something really important?
Why do we denigrate success instead of celebrating it? It is true that everybody is likely in their lifetime to experience both success and failure. We simply call that life. Stay in the dark –not me, I am striving for the light?
I’m tired of victims and whining about imagined wrongs; I’m tired of isolating one group against another and everybody blaming someone else for whatever happens or doesn’t.
I reject t this address as a great speech and I will not be buying any of her books.
